Sonar Systems Acoustic Analyst and Operations Subject Matter Expert

Job Brief

MAI is seeking an experienced STS, STG, AW and/or IUSS operator to support acoustic analysis efforts, at-sea/ashore test & evaluation events, to support at-sea/ashore testing, development and refinement of U.S. Navy submarines, surface ship and aircraft ASW systems. You would participate in working group environments to support the development of cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct acoustic analysis
  • Support NAVSEA and Warfare Centers on ASW and sonar related projects
  • Participate in Sonar related working groups
  • Support internal development projects
  • At-sea and laboratory based testing

Required Qualifications

  • 20 years or more of Navy ASW operational experience
  • A former rated U.S. Navy STS, STG, AW and/or IUSS Operator
  • DOD Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI access

  • Navy NEC 805B (0416) Acoustic Intelligence Specialist
  • Navy NEC T42A (0501) Master Sonar Technician (Submarines)

  • Navy NEC 712B (0507) IUSS Master
  • Navy NEC 805A (9502) Naval Instructor
  • Master Training Specialist (MTS)
  • 15 years or more experience with APB and/or ACB systems
  • TS SCI Eligible
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Served at-sea STSC, STGC, AWC, and/or IUSS Leading Chief

Security/Information Technology Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  SECURITY/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT

Flexible – 30 to 40 hours per week        

$34.64 to $39.28 per hour

(MAI) is an employee-owned scientific research and engineering company providing a diverse set of government and corporate clients with a broad spectrum of consulting and engineering services.  Our areas of expertise include services assisting clients in meeting environmental compliance requirements and in the development of naval undersea warfare systems.

MAI is seeking an Security and Information Technology Assistant who will become part of a progressive, ambitious business with excellent benefits.  This position is an integral part of the company’s Connecticut (CT) Technical Office, reporting directly to the Connecticut Office Manager and to the MAI Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for security matters. The position provides the opportunity for professional development in a supportive working environment based on respect for each individual. CANDIDATE WILL ASSIST THE FACILITY SECURITY OFFICER (FSO) and INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY MANAGER (ISSM) WITH:

  • Indoctrinating newly hired cleared employees
  • Processing classified documents and assisting with electronic auditing
  • Sending and receiving Visitor Requests via Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
  • Maintenance of employee security files
  •  Prepare, coordinate, and conduct all annual security education/training
  • Investigate, prepare, and submit Security Violations and Incident Reports
  • Prepare and participate in yearly DCSA vulnerability assessments
  • Manage storage, inventories, document control, and transmission of classified holdings
  • Manage facility security duties
  • RMF compliance for Classified Processing Computers
  • Ensures the facility is compliant with the NISPOM
  • Some IT and desktop support
  • Process requests for new clearances, downgrading/upgrading, conversions, reinstatements, terminations, and periodic re-investigations
  • Manage access and perimeter controls
  • Serve as Communications Security (COMSEC) Material Custodian
  • Reports to MAI CT Office Manager and corporate FSO/ISSM (RI Location)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide technical document editing
  • Perform general clerical duties to include (but not limited to) photocopying, faxing, mail distribution and filing, answering phone and timely email responses
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and Purchase Requests
  • Respond to requests, manage correspondence, receive visitors, arrange conference calls, keep records, and schedule meetings efficiently and thoughtfully
  • Create and update ad-hoc spreadsheets and forms
  • Organize, prioritize, and appropriately handle time-sensitive information and ensure action/attention as required
  • Have a full understanding of the company’s policies and procedures in order to assist and answer employee’s questions and concerns
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years’ administrative experience in an office environment OR 2+ years working for government contractor (Including internships)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (especially Excel)
  • Must be a US citizen and have an active SECRET security clearance
  • Strong multi-tasking capability, attention to detail, thorough organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED)

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field
  • Experience working for a government contractor
  • Working knowledge of the 32 CFR Part 117 (The NISPOM Rule), DISS, NISS NBIS, and eMASS
