 Job Brief

Marine Acoustics, Inc. (MAI) is looking for a full time, experienced engineer to coordinate testing and evaluation of Future Navy Capability (FNC) systems under development for the purpose of ultimate transition to Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Programs of Record. The candidate will work in the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Code 32 Anti-Submarine Warfare program, supporting at-sea testing, evaluation, and assessment of cutting edge ASW technology across a broad range of Navy Science and Technology (S&T) efforts. On site availability necessary at ONR Arlington, VA (though with limited teleworking options), as well as ability to travel and/or support at-sea testing as required.

Administrative management and ASW Testing program support for ONR Code 32 ASW Testing Program, to include:

  • Support and management of S&T efforts to develop and demonstrate ASW capabilities within applications that span multiple technology readiness levels (TRLs) and across multiple program elements
  • Extracting and efficiently organizing complex technical design, performance, and cost analysis information for ASW and component technologies
  • Defining and executing detailed test plans that identify optimum test areas, and identifying hazards in the operations area
  • Briefing ship, submarine, and aircraft crews and test team members regarding both the plan and the expected operations environment
  • Applying analytical problem-solving methodologies to develop solutions to complex technical issues that provides technical guidance to Government and prime contractor personnel
  • Drafting executive level briefings and responses that deliver both technically detailed and programmatically complete responses to questions from fleet forces, Navy sponsors, or Congressional staff
  • Participating in international Naval fleet planning conferences and international Naval exercise and experimentation planning conferences
  • Exercising the Sea Trial Information Management System (STIMS) process to obtain fleet services


  • BS or higher with technical background preferred.
  • 10 or more years of Navy operational and acquisitions experience desired (or eight years with current certification as a Program Management Professional (PMP)), with a key focus on ASW, to include:
    • Proficiency in maritime operations, including deck safety, navigation software, exercise reconstruction, and Naval Fleet operations
    • Experience both in Navy operations and in S&T acquisition program execution processes directly in support of development and demonstration of ASW capabilities
  • TOP SECRET security clearance (active preferred)
  • Completion of core certification training standards required for DAWIA Science and Technology Manager (S&TM) Level I (can be completed during onboarding process)
  • Ability to work on-site

 Additional Skillsets Preferred (Not Necessarily Required)

  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • S. with technical background
  • Technology Manager (S&TM) [Levels II or III], and/or for Business Financial Management (Business FM) [Levels I, II, or III].
  • Experience planning and executing S&T meetings, workshops, and program reviews in support of the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP) or the NOPP Interagency Coordination Group.

Salary Range

  • $130K-$140K per year (depending on skill set and experience), plus relocation costs.
